Day 3 Santa Marta, Colombia

Santa Marta is the capital of the department of Magdalena and the fourth largest urban city of the Caribbean Region of Colombia. The city is located on the shores of the Bay of Santa Marta on the Caribbean Sea, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, whose peaks can be seen on clear days from the beach. Santa Marta's beach captivates with activities and culture, among other options. Here visitors always find something to do: diving, adventure sports and visiting beaches where the rainforest meets the sea; bird watching, a historic city tour and a visit the heart of the Tayrona culture.

Day 4 Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena, Colombia is the sum of its incredible parts; its colonial, republican and modern architecture, the temptation of its vibrant nightlife, its cultural festivals, exuberant landscapes, magnificent beaches, outstanding gastronomic offerings and its important hotel and tourism infrastructure. The city is an open-air museum, filled with colonial treasures, but it has a lot more to offer than history and culture. Cartagena's Old Town is a Unesco World Heritage site - a maze of cobbled alleys, balconies covered in bougainvillea, and massive churches that cast their shadows across leafy plazas.

Panama Canal, lock-type canal, owned and administered by the Republic of Panama, that connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the narrow Isthmus of Panama. The length of the Panama Canal from shoreline to shoreline is about 40 miles (65 km) and from deep water in the Atlantic to deep water in the Pacific about 50 miles (82 km). The canal, which was completed in August 1914, is one of the two most-strategic artificial waterways in the world.

Day 7 Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica

Puerto Caldera is one of the most important port cities in Costa Rica, and often the starting point for cruises and industrial ships. This tiny town is near many of Costa Rica's top attractions and most visited cities, including San Jose, Jaco and Puntarenas. Puerto Caldera offers facilities for travellers, and there are gift shops to purchase jewellery, wooden crafts, coffee and more.

Day 9 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Puerto Quetzal is Guatemala's largest Pacific Ocean port. It is important for both cargo traffic and as a stop-off point for cruise liners. Puerto Quetzal was named after Quetzales - Guatemala's national bird. Main sites are the old Mayan site of Yaxha and Iximche, the Tikal National Park which is home to the Mayan Pyramid of the Great Jaguar, Central Plaza and two large Acropolises.

Cabo San Lucas's white beaches, fecund waters and spectacular arching stone cliffs at Land's End have become the backdrop for Baja's most raucous tourism. The activities are endless: jet-skiing, banana-boating, parasailing, snorkeling, kitesurfing, diving and horsebackriding can all be found just by walking down to the beach.
