Day 3 Cartagena, Colombia

Originally called "Cartagena de Indias," Cartagena is one of the oldest cities in Colombia and an important port for the country. The port is a frequent stop for cruise ships in the southern Caribbean, especially those making the transit through the Panama Canal. What makes Cartagena so amazing is the sum of its many wonderful parts: its colonial, republican, and modern architecture; the allure of its lively nightlife; its cultural festivals; its exuberant landscapes; its magnificent beaches; its outstanding gastronomic offerings; and its significant hotel and tourism infrastructure. The city is like a colonial treasure trove available to the public, but it has much more to offer than just history and culture. The Old Town of Cartagena is a Unesco World Heritage Site, and it is a labyrinth of cobbled streets, balconies draped with bougainvillea, and massive churches whose shadows fall across plazas of lush vegetation.

Day 4 Panama Canal, Panama

The Panama Canal is a lock-type canal, owned and administered by the Republic of Panama, that connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the narrow Isthmus of Panama. The length of the Panama Canal from shoreline to shoreline is about 40 miles, and from deep water in the Atlantic to deep water in the Pacific, about 50 miles. The canal, which was completed in August 1914, is one of the two most strategically important artificial waterways in the world.

The capital of Panama is Panama City, which may be found on the Pacific coast not far to the east of the Panama Canal. The financial and shipping centers of Central America are located in Panama City, the most developed city in the region. The city of Panama is home to delectable cuisine, a plethora of shopping opportunities, and a lively bar and club scene. Casco Viejo, the city's oldest neighborhood, preserves many of the buildings and streets from the time when the city was a major New World/Old World commerce center. Day 8 Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Puntarenas is the capital and largest city in the Province of Puntarenas, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Puntarenas sits on a long, narrow peninsula in the Gulf of Nicoya on the Central Pacific Coast. The area is blessed with large amounts of sunshine and warmth, as well as fantastic flora and fauna, radiant beaches, incredible eco adventure opportunities, and majestic national parks. Puntarenas and its surrounding area offer an excellent assortment of activities such as sea kayaking, sports fishing, and tours to Tortuga Island.

Day 9 San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua

San Juan del Sur is a municipality and coastal town on the Pacific Ocean, in the Rivas department in southwest Nicaragua. It is popular among surfers and is a vacation spot for many Nicaraguan families and foreign tourists. The town itself, with its clapboard Victorian houses, a towering statue of Christ on a neighboring hillside, and a steady influx of young and beautiful international travelers and surfers, is Nicaragua's beach party central.

Day 10 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Puerto Quetzal is Guatemala's largest Pacific Ocean port. It is important for both cargo traffic and as a stop-off point for cruise liners. Puerto Quetzal was named after Quetzales, Guatemala's national bird. Main sites are the old Mayan sites of Yaxha and Iximche, the Tikal National Park, which is home to the Mayan Pyramid of the Great Jaguar, Central Plaza, and two large acropolises.

Cabo San Lucas's white beaches, fecund waters, and spectacular arching stone cliffs at Land's End have become the backdrop for Baja's most raucous tourism. The activities are endless: jet-skiing, banana boating, parasailing, snorkeling, kitesurfing, diving, and horseback riding can all be found just by walking down to the beach.
